Great South Run
]

Flick preparing for the Great South RunI will be running with the Southsea Traders on Sunday 26 October and I personally will be raising money for Cancer Research. As several of my friends have died of cancer leaving spouses and young children, I am determined to raise money to help research to cure a disease which affects 1 in 3 of us. If you want to donate money to my run you can do it on line, It's live and ready to take donations at:

Running 10 miles is a huge challenge for me as 3 miles has always been my limit. However, inspired by many people including Jane Tomlinson who raised millions while battling cancer, I feel that my contribution is very small.

On a more political note, I am horrified that not only are Britain's cancer survival rates are poor compared to many other countries, and you have to live in the right Primary Care Trust within Britain to receive some of the more expensive drugs. So much for a National Health Service.

Portsmouth Football Club

Pompey logoIt will be extremely strange not to hear about Fratton Park as the home of Pompey but fans will benefit from a larger and modern stadium and I wish PFC the best of luck in building a new stadium. The plans look exciting and how amazing that it is the same designers that built the Bejing Olympic Stadium. It would be great if it can be used for concerts and other events which will save Pompey residents from having to travel to see major entertainment stars. I hope that the transport to the stadium will be sorted and perhaps a park and ride facility built at the same time. In an ideal world, it would also be great to see some form of rapid light transport into the city from the stadium/park and ride, it would make a huge difference to traffic in Portsmouth. You can learn about the stadium at the Portsmouth Football Club website:
